SAMPLE SPECIFICATIONS

Arai helmets are currently being used by more than 250 law enforcement agencies throughout the United States and Mexico. Over the last several years we have reviewed many law enforcement agencys' helmet specifications. We have spoken with supply personnel, purchasing agents, and most importantly, motor officers themselves. We have compiled a list of suggested helmet specifications that may be of use to your law enforcement agency. Sample Motor Officer Helmet Specifications:

  • Must meet or exceed current DOT and SNELL standards.
  • Must be constructed of fiberglass, kevlar or a combination of both.
  • Must have a removable & washable interior liner.
  • Must have adjustable air vents for interior ventilation and air circulation.
  • Must be a full coverage helmet, also referred to as a 3/4 coverage.
  • Must be gloss white with gloss black high-rise ("H") trim. (Choose colors and positions to fit your agency)
  • Must have snap-on, break-away visor, high gloss black in color.
  • Must have gold visor trim and gold "P" end buttons. (Your agency may prefer silver or both colors)
  • Must accept snap-on, break-away face shield.
  • Must be compatible with current model headset systems.
  • Must have double "D" ring retention system on chin strap.
  • Must have soft fabric surface on face side of chin strap.
  • Must be available in sizes X-Small to XXX-Large (53 mm to 66 mm).
